The farm, “Finca Los Leones” is in Palora, also known as the “Eden of the Amazon,” in the province of Morona Santiago, Ecuador. More than 50% of the territory of Palora is part of the Sangay National Park, a protected area, and a natural setting that allows for the appreciation of a great diversity of flora and fauna, as well as waterfalls, lagoons, and rivers.
“Finca Los Leones” is our family farm located in the Ecuadorian Amazon that produces Pitahaya fleshy, sweet and unique, which characteristics are not found anywhere else in the world.
Doña María is the family pioneer who started cultivating pitahaya and gave each of her eight children 3.5 hectares. She raised her children here, worked the land and continues to live on the farm.
The siblings, inspired by their 75-year-old mother, now have 24 hectares (59 Acres) of pitahaya in production and 6 hectares (15 Acres) planted, which guarantee the capability to offer over 360,000 KG year of a Golden Amazon Dragon Fruit (Palora Pitahaya).
In early 2019, the farm “Los Leones” built a modern packing facility and established our export operation, which meets the highest standards established by GlobalGAP and AGROCALIDAD the Ecuadorian government agricultural regulatory agency. We are an FDA foreign registered packing facility.
Finca Los Leones has also established Frexotic Inc in the United States to serve as the importing arm of its Palora Golden Amazon Dragon Fruit. Frexotic Inc is 100% minority owned (51% women owned).
